What to pack for your safari

Wondering what to pack for your safari in Kenya? Your spirit of adventure and curiosity, as well as an open mind and enough memory cards for the camera! While on safari, comfortable and casual clothes that can be washed and used is advised as a general rule. For game watching, muted colors are preferred. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are popular, although they can be freezing, especially in the winter. Because the weather tends to warm up during the day, it’s recommended to dress in layers.

The following are the most useful items to bring on your Kenya safari:

  • Khaki, green, beige, and neutral-colored clothing
  • Long-sleeved shirts that provide sun and mosquito protection
    T-shirts
  • Shorts or a light skirt are both acceptable options.
  • For nights and milder days, wear jeans or safari pants.
  • Jackets and sweaters for game drives in the early morning and late afternoon
  • In the event of rain, a lightweight waterproof jacket is recommended.
  • Beachwear and swimwear
  • Walking shoes that are comfortable
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, bug repellant, moisturizer, and lip balm are all recommended.
  • Binoculars and photography gear

On short flights, the luggage allowance is normally restricted to 15 kg (33 lbs), which includes hand luggage, so keep this in mind while packing. The majority of lodges and campgrounds provide same-day laundry service.

If you need safari apparel, luggage, or accessories to prepare for your trip, contact your local safari gear shop, which will have a large range of high-quality items at your disposal.
