E-Visa for Kenya

The online E-Visas are generally provided in less than 3 days, however we recommend that you apply at least 7 working days ahead of time to allow enough time for the application procedure to be completed. Single Entry Visas are only valid for 90 days from the date of issue, thus you should not apply until at least 90 days before your arrival and departure dates in Kenya. If you are returning to Kenya on the same trip from another East African country during the 90-day validity period, you will not need an additional visa and the Single Entry Visa will be approved.

How to Apply for a Kenya E-Visa Online

Click HERE to register for an E-visa Account with the Kenya Immigration Department using your username and password, and to get an email with a link to activate your E-visa Account.
You will be requested to upload a current passport-type head and shoulders photo, which you must have already scanned and saved on your computer, once you activate your account by clicking on a link in the email issued to you. Please make sure the photo is under 1MB and has a white backdrop, as otherwise it may not upload properly to the web form.
You’ll also need a scanned copy of your passport’s bio-data page, as well as a scanned copy of your booking confirmation invoice, which shows your arrival and departure dates.

For smartphones and tablets, the Online E-Visa Application form is mobile-friendly.
Select “Department of Immigration Services,” then “Submit Application” before selecting “Kenyan Visa.”
Select “Apply for a Single Entry Visa” (which also covers Double Entry) and fill out the online Application Form, which involves uploading your passport photo and confirmation of your reservation.
You’ll next fill out the Kenyan Visa Application and pay the US$51 (or similar) online charge with a Visa or Mastercard debit card. Credit cards are also accepted for payment, however there is an extra 3% charge, bringing the total to $54.
Then wait three days for approval to appear on your E-Citizen account page, with the status of your application marked as ISSUED, so you may select the Download option and print your E-Visa.

When you arrive at Kenya’s airport, show your printed E-Visa to the Passport Control officer. Note: You should continue directly to Passport Control to join the E-VISA line.

The Government of Kenya issues the following disclaimer:

The processing fee for a Visa is non-refundable.
Applications that are not complete will be rejected.
The possession of an E-Visa is not sufficient authorization to enter Kenya.
It is illegal to engage in any type of business or job without the necessary authorization or pass.
Prior to entering the Republic of Kenya, you will need a Kenya visa.
The printout of the E-Visa must be submitted at the port of entry.
