A challenging trip to Mount Kenya for 6 days. Hiking via the gorgeous Sirimon route, with possibilities for wildlife viewing and bird watching throughout the first day’s routes in this Kenyan mountain park. Then it’s up via the Liki and Mackinder’s Valleys to Shipton’s camp, with its gleaming peaks and breathtaking views. The Sirimon route is a moderate-to-difficult ascent that is not very technical.
Mount Kenya Summit: Sirimon Route is a 51.0-kilometer moderately frequented out-and-back path that gives the opportunity to observe animals and is categorized as challenging. It is located near Nanyuki, Central, Kenya. Hiking, camping, nature visits, and backpacking are the most popular activities on the path.
Early departure from Nairobi, with a lunch stop on way to the Sirimoni Trail's National Park Gates. Then it's a three-to-four-hour steady ascent to Judmaier Camp (3,350m)
Shipton's Caves are a 5- to 6-hour hike up Mackinder's Valley (4,150m). With gigantic lobelias all around and high peaks ahead, it's a stunning scene.
Acclimatization day. Optional trek to Kami Hut (4,425m) and Hausberg Col (4,591m)
To reach Point Lenana, a very early start on the North Ridge is required (4,985m). Descend to Mackinder's Camp in Teleki Valley, on the opposite side of the major peaks, for a nice night's rest.
Descend the NaroMoru Track to Met Station (roadhead) and transfer to NaroMoru River Lodge for the night.
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi in the morning to catch your flight home or extend your wildlife safari.
